Discipline Policy
If a child shows some of the following behavior day after day and it cannot
be modified, we may request that child have a reduced schedule or leave
the program. This behavior includes:
1. Overly aggressive.
2. Repeated physical assaults to children and/or teacher(s).
3. Constant overactivity, undirected toward any specific activity.
4. No attention span for any activity or encounter during the day.
5. Inability to follow a simple request.
6. Uncontrollable emotional state when spoken to.
7. Destructive to the room and the materials.
8. Unable to separate from the parents after one month in the school setting.
If the above behavior occurs on a frequent basis, the following
will occur:
1. The teacher will notify the parents.
2. Careful observation will take place for one week. Notes will be taken
– staff will confer.
3. The parents will be asked to:
a. reduce the child’s schedule
b. withdraw the child until a later date
c. withdraw the child from the program
These measures are taken in the best interest of the child,
the parents, and the other children.
Dismissals
We always enjoy working with children and give it our best effort through
the good times as well as the difficult times. If a child becomes too
aggressive (hitting, biting, destroying others’ work, tantrums),
we may have to ask you to pick them up. A conference may follow. If a
child is too tired or comes to school with an illness, we may call you
to pick them up.
School readiness and stress in social situations can sometimes
only be evaluated after a child is present in these programs. Sometimes
the behavior is only temporary in the child’s life. The school cannot
be held responsible to modify difficult behavior patterns. The Montessori
enter will provide you with support, basic advice, and encouragement.
